Happy and Blessed Divine Mercy Sunday!

Reading 1ACTS 2:42-47

Reading 21 PT 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who in his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading,
kept in heaven for you
who by the power of God are safeguarded through faith,
to a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the final time.
In this you rejoice, although now for a little while
you may have to suffer through various trials,
so that the genuineness of your faith,
more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire,
may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor
at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Although you have not seen him you love him;
even though you do not see him now yet believe in him,
you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,
as you attain the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

The Word of the Lord!  Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ!

GospelJN 20:19-31

I copied the 2nd Reading for today and copied the links for the 1st Reading and Gospel.

I was meditating on the Mercy of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  I see His Mercy countless times working in the broken children we serve.  I love the Divine Mercy image and have a picture of it in the dinning room.

What I see is the Mercy of Jesus works slowly over time.  The brokenness and trauma that the children have can happen overnight, however it does not heal overnight.  Sometimes the trauma can seem very healed, but as the child grows older and begins to gain understanding, the trauma can return.(Of course it was always there.)  I believe that this is so the child can be healed on another level.  The child heals on a very simple level when they are very young and can’t even put words to what happened.  They need to heal at a deeper level as they grow into the teen years and the memories of the trauma return or resurface.  This is the Mercy of Jesus in his healing the heart and memories of the broken.

Jesus, in His Resurrection did not have His wounds removed.  They were still there in glorious form. (See today’s Gospel) In a form that people could look at Jesus and be drawn to Him.  We will continue to see this as we go through the Easter Readings.  We see this in the Divine Mercy image!

May you have a Glorious Week!  Jesus I trust in You!
